Pyrotechnics Celebrate Card

Doing a bit of catching up - another post for cards I made over the weekend.

This is one of those cards where I wish my photography skills were a little more "advanced" (which in my case, means I wish I had a few paltry skills, rather than non-existent ones LOL).

I have several important birthdays coming up, and one in particular is for a card-making friend who does amazingly gorgeous cards, and almost all of them have a little - or a LOT - of gold embossing. Since her work is so stunning, I definitely feel a bit intimidated but thought the use of gold embossing would win me some brownie points in her books :-)

I actually used 3 colours of embossing powder, in this order (L to R) - gold, platinum & silver - for the firework images. Although it looked nice, I still wanted a bit more "boom" for my card (pun intended). Using other images in this stamp set, I stamped over the firework areas with Versamark and added Sparkle Embossing Powder, which, when you move the card, gives it an iridescent sparkle (remember my lack of photography skills LOL).

Just like real fireworks in a night sky!

I'm off to a warm, sunny destination for holidays on the weekend, so forgive me if I don't reply to any kind comments left on my blog during that time. I also regret not being able to comment on so many lovely blogs that I follow. But I promise I'll make it up when I get back, tan in tow.

Have a lovely day & hope to see you again soon.

Mighty Bloom Birthday Wishes - CTD#380

Ummm ....

Excuse me while I pick myself off the floor!

I know, I know! My SECOND post of the day!!!

Obviously, I've had WAY too much fun this weekend making cards :-)

But I couldn't resist this week's Color Throwdown Challenge to use Red, Grey/Silver & White, especially after seeing all the amazing inspiration on the blog.

I think I spent more time going through all my DP stash than I did putting this card together. And yes, that means I have A LOT of DP stash! And who can blame me? If they didn't make the stuff so darn pretty ...

I began by stamping a white card panel with the Rubbernecker French Script Background in SU Smoky Slate ink. The grey DP was cut with the PTI Mighty Blooms Cover Plate, then I proceeded to add back some sections that I cut from other, complimentary DP, allowing the French Script to show through some of the negative spaces. The word "Birthday" was diecut 3 times, glued together and popped up. The final touch was to add a bit of bling to the centre of the "flower" image. It was a toss up between this matching red glittery "ring", or a large clear rhinestone. It seems the ring won.

Once completed, I glued my card to a final layer of Stampin' Up Riding Hood Red.

Happy Sunday & thanks for dropping in!

CAS(E) This Sketch #160 - Graceful Blooms

I really enjoy seeing all the lovely floral (Spring) cards being posted on Pinterest. It reminds me that we are almost done with winter and will see the real live blooms soon!

Until then, I guess I have to settle for the "paper" kind :-)

When I saw this week's CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge, the stamp that immediately came to mind was Stampin' Up's Brushstrokes Background, so I decided to play along:

A friend came over to "play" with me last night, and when I finished my card, we had a good laugh as she knows only too well how "uncomfortable" I am with CAS card designs. All that open space had me thinking about sequins ... adding glitter ... maybe even some ribbon. And all she kept saying to me was "Step away from the card!!!". So I did (sigh).

I think I am getting a wee bit better with it.

There's lots of lovely inspiration here on the CAS(E) This Sketch blog, so why don't you join in on the fun?

Cheers!

Sketch Gift Birthday Cheer

Happy Sunday!

Usually, when the sun is shining brightly, it draws me outdoors to enjoy its warm rays and I don't get much done indoors. However, we remain under an Extreme Cold Warning so going outside for any length of time is a dangerous option. We only have today to get through before we return to more "normal" temperatures.

So why not stay indoors and craft?

Just stocking up on Birthday cards, and using some new items I've had sitting around. This card is a bit of a "mixed bag" of products, but I had fun putting them together. The bow on the gift has been accented with Wink of Stella to give it a bit of sparkle, and it was adhered to the embossed panel with dimensional pop dots.

Only 36 more days until Spring :-) More sweeter words have never been said while experiencing such cold, cold temps :-)

Have a great day!

Dies: Simon Says Stamp Sketch Gift; PTI Birthday Cheer Die
Stamps: PTI Birthday Cheer
Paper: MME DP; Black & White Cardstock; Stampin' Up Pink Pirouette Cardstock
Accessories: Wink of Stella Clear; Birthday EF

New Home Congrats

Well, it looks like Old Man Winter has decided to pay a visit - finally!

We're experiencing extremely cold temps over the next couple of days, so a perfect opportunity to stay indoors and craft ;-)

Over the holidays I treated myself to a combined Christmas/Birthday "gift" and picked up the Petite Places: Holiday Lane release from Papertrey Ink. There are so many gorgeous projects I've seen that are made with this set, so when I was asked to make a card for someone who recently moved into a new home, this is the set I reached for and came up with this card:

I also finally managed to use my newly acquired Misti (thanks to my blog friend Lainey for encouraging me to give it a try - I'm officially hooked!).

The largest Pop Up Tree and House have been adhered with foam dots for dimension.

Since I have a 4-legged fur baby that recently underwent surgery, this is a quick post so I can go back to keeping a close eye on her. I do appreciate you stopping by and hope you have a wonderful day/weekend!

Stitched Hearts Love U Holographic Card

Hello and thank you for popping by my blog today.

I have indulged myself with a whole day spent in my craft room to create cards for Valentine's Day, as well as a couple of other card-giving occasions (which I will share with you at a later date). It's amazing how fast time flies, so much so that when it is time to put down the stamps and glue, you haven't completed half of what you set out to do. Is it just me or does that happen to you as well?

I picked up a few goodies from the Simon Says Stamp "You Have My Heart" release (LOVE IT ALL!!!), so today's project shows that I actually got around to using one of the items I purchased :-)

Not only that, I also used up some DP I've been hoarding since I first began stamping (yikes!).

The visual affect in the negative part of the hearts is actually holographic hearts, but since my photographic skills aren't that great, I'm not sure you are able to see that in the above picture. Suffice to say, IRL, it looks A-MAZING (OK, call me biased!).

Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge this week is to use hearts, so I'm popping over to enter this card on their inspirational blog. As well, the Just Us Girls Challenge #329 is the word "Valentine", so I think this card qualifies as well ;-)

Thanks for stopping by & have a wonderful, crafty day!
